Messiah tickets still available!
March 1: There are still free tickets available for the Conference Center Theater! See link below.
To celebrate the Easter season with Christians around the world, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will present Handel’s beloved oratorio Messiah on Thursday, March 22, and Friday, March 23, in the Salt Lake City Tabernacle on Temple Square.
Tickets for all Temple Square locations will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. MDT exclusively through lds.org/events. To provide as much seating as possible, the concert will be heard in three locations on Temple Square:
- Salt Lake Tabernacle: Live concert
- Joseph Smith Building Legacy Theater: Premium sound simulcast
- Conference Center Theater: Closed-circuit simulcast
Tickets for the concert are free but are required. Tickets for the Messiah concerts in 2014 and 2016 were distributed in less than 10 minutes. Patrons will be able to request two tickets. Since a username and password are required to request tickets on lds.org/events, patrons are encouraged to set up that account prior to the ticket availability date. Admission is open to those eight years and older. (Temple Square locations will not be sing-along events.) Standby seating is generally available at each location.
Additional Messiah Viewing Options Are Available
For those who are unable to get tickets or who are simply not able to join us in Salt Lake City, there are several additional ways to enjoy the Messiah concert. All that is needed is an internet connection!
Watch in the comfort of your own home or organize your own group at other locations to join us for this event. This is your opportunity to schedule a Messiah sing-along at a time convenient for you! Check out the “How to View Messiah” on the Choir’s website for details about the following:
A live stream of the concert via the internet on March 23, 2018, begins with a pre-concert feed at 7:00 p.m. and the full concert at 7:30 p.m. MDT.
On Demand Viewing:
For 17 days after the concert, there will be an on-demand stream convenient for any Messiah sing-along events or for watching the concert again. The on-demand concert will be available on the internet from Friday, March 23, at the end of the live stream (approximately 11:00 p.m. MDT) until Monday, April 9, at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
Church Satellite Broadcast:
The pre-concert feed and full live concert will also be broadcast over the Church satellite system beginning Friday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m. MDT in LDS buildings where Messiah events have been planned. The concert will be rebroadcast at selected times on Thursday and Friday, March 29 and 30, to permit additional Messiah sing-alongs on Good Friday, March 30.
The satellite feed can also be picked up by theaters or other locations with satellite reception. Please go to motab.org/satellite for the full schedule and a link to test the satellite feed at non-LDS Church facilities.
The concert will be broadcast on Sunday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m. MDT and again on Sunday, April 1, at 10:00 p.m. MDT.
